The day
A group day on the Pfaffenberg: everything in one place
A group outing in Oberberg works at the Waldhotel without detours: you park at the hotel, walk through the cave for around 45 minutes, take a break in the wildlife park and then eat in the restaurant. The coach stays where it is, because nobody has to drive between the stations.
Arrive
Parking is at the hotel, Pfaffenberg 1 in Wiehl; we will tell you the access route for coaches on request. Allow around 15 minutes from arrival to the meeting point at the ticket desk by the kiosk.
Tour underground
The tour starts promptly on the hour and lasts around 45 minutes. Larger groups are spread over several tours that start one after another.
Break in the wildlife park
The wildlife park in Wiehl is right next door, freely accessible, with a circular trail of around 1.8 kilometres. Anyone who does not want to go into the cave waits up at the kiosk or goes into the wildlife park.
Dining at the Waldhotel
The restaurant in Wiehl is only a few steps from the cave. You agree the menu or buffet and the number of guests with us in advance.

School classes and nurseries
The cave is a place to learn about geography and science: its limestone formed in the Devonian period around 390 million years ago. Supervision remains with the accompanying adults, and nursery groups are best off bringing more adults than they would need day to day.
Clubs

Senior groups
The cave suits people who can manage 26 steps comfortably. The passages are partly narrow and low and the cave is not barrier-free, so please discuss this with us in advance.
Coach groups
Fixed times can be kept: first the tour, then buffet or menu, then the next item on your programme in the area.

Cave admission
According to the cave website: individual price €6.50 for adults and €5.50 for children, groups receive a €1 discount per person. The hotel will tell you by phone from how many people the group price applies.

Schedule
The cave is closed in winter. Even then, the Waldhotel welcomes groups for meals and celebrations.

How many people join one tour?
Around 25 people join each tour. Larger groups are split up.

Can part of the group stay upstairs?
Yes. Anyone who does not wish to go down can wait upstairs at the kiosk or visit the wildlife park.
