The adventure
The treasure hunt is real, and it takes place underground

Underground with torches
Your birthday party goes on a tour as a closed group. You get a time slot of your own in which only your guests are in the cave.
The cave guides explain stalactites and stalagmites, and the children use their torches to look for the hidden treasure. You bring the little treasure, and the guides hide it beforehand.
Schedule
Four stations, one birthday afternoon
Arrive at the Waldhotel
You meet at Pfaffenberg 1, and parking at the hotel is free. This is where you hand out the torches and get the children in the mood. The meeting point for the tours is the ticket desk at the kiosk.
Treasure hunt in the cave
It takes around 45 minutes and leads down to a depth of 30 metres; everything about the cave is under Hotel by the stalactite cave. The path is lit and leads over solid steps, and the group stays together.
Play in the wildlife park
After the cave, children need fresh air, and the wildlife park in Wiehl is right next door: watching fallow deer, running across the meadow, racing along the forest climate trail.
Cake and food at the Waldhotel
The restaurant offers several children’s menus. The birthday table is set on the terrace or indoors; you agree cake, food and space with us in advance.
Useful information
Everything for parents at a glance
Age and group
There is no minimum age, and the treasure hunt suits children of primary-school age best. The children’s birthday is planned for 8 people or more, and around 25 people join each tour.
Price
According to the cave website, adults pay €6.50 and children pay the children’s price, plus a service charge of €25 per group (€50 for fewer than 8 people). We will tell you the current prices by phone.
Clothing and shoes
Even in summer a jacket and warm clothing are part of the plan, because it is around 8 °C down there. Wear sturdy, non-slip shoes, as the cave has 26 steps and a damp floor.
Bring along
Every child needs a torch of their own with fresh batteries. You bring a little treasure for the hiding place.
Parents
Parents and other adults are welcome to come along and pay the adult price. Supervision lies with the accompanying adults.
Stalactites
The stalactites stay untouched: they grow only about a centimetre in a hundred years.
The celebration
Carry on celebrating at the Waldhotel with cake and a children’s menu

Birthday table by arrangement
After the treasure hunt it gets warm and cosy: the party sits in the restaurant, in one of our salons or, when the weather is fine, on the terrace.
If you want to go bigger, you will find the hall, salons and buffets under Celebrate a birthday in Oberberg; the food for the children is described by the restaurant in Wiehl.
